- Paul Tyson Review added: 2018.08.09★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆Stopped off here at teatime after a business meeting in Banbury - thought a carvery would do nicely and we would avoid the five oclock traffic whilst eating.
Only a few customers in but still seemed to wait awhile to be shown to a table. Once seated we were asked if we wanted drinks, on ordered two diet cokes we were brought two empty glasses and told the drinks machine is 'over there, you can help yourselves'!.
Again we waited at the carvery counter for service.The chap serving did seem very generous along with talking alot (hes from sth africa you know!). Because of all the talking he hadnt heard me saying no to several items he was so generously adding to my plate!
Tucking into my meal back at the table I can honestly say I didnt enjoy any of it. Tasteless over cooked veg, beef full of gristle and very fatty gammon. I left most of my meal.
To top it off I took my glass to the rather grubby drinks dispenser and poured myself the weirdest tasting diet coke ive ever had - I think the flavouring had run out !
Sorry to say I dont think ill ever call back in to this tired pub.
Tip: If a pub / restaurant carpark is almost empty at a meal time, then theres usually good reason - the foods not much good!
